Description
Bolt tensioner is a special tool for tightening or dismantling bolts using hydraulic principle. By stretching the bolt, it is elongated within the elastic deformation zone and the bolt diameter is slightly deformed so that the nut can be easily loosened or tightened. In addition, it can be used as a device for applying axial force to hydraulic interference connections for top pressure installation. The operating principle of the bolt tensioner is based on the tensile strength, yield coefficient and elongation of the material. When working, the power source (such as hydraulic pump) output of high-pressure oil through the high-pressure hose delivery to the tensioner's piston cylinder, under the pressure of the piston in the piston cylinder piston upward, driven by the stretching nut upward movement. The stretching nut is threaded with the working bolt, thus elongating the working bolt, so that the bolt elongation reaches the required amount of deformation (deformation control in the elastic deformation range). Then pre-tensioning or dismantling is carried out, and finally the working bolt is returned to its original shape by means of hydraulic or mechanical return to its original position to complete the operation.
SL-GT Inlet type bolt tensioner
Bolt size range:M16-M95 5/8″一3 3/4″; Load: 0-2845.1 kN; Maximum working pressure: 1500 bar For maximum flexibility, select the tensioner head to be matched with the tensioning cylinder and support bridge. For example, a tensioner for 25.4 mm bolts can be ordered with the following options: Tension cylinder and bridge type: SLGT1 I LCB with matching tensioning head accessory type: GT1 P-NRS1000U08。

Bolt tensioner use precautions:
1、Pressurisation should be even.
2、Calculate the oil pressure is very important, calculate the permissible stress on the basis of the strength level of the bolt to ensure that the deformation of the bolt is within the range of elastic denaturation.
3、Disassemble the bolt with care, after the tension nut is tightened, it must be loosened about 3/4 -1 turn, in order to prevent the bolt from elastic reset, the tension nut will be pulled tight on the piston.
4、Multiple bolts pre-tensioned in steps, the same step pre-tensioned bolts interact with each other, you should distribute the pre-tensioning force of each bolt.
5、Design the maximum stroke, the maximum stroke must be designed, if the maximum range is exceeded, light seals will be damaged, serious major accidents will occur.
User Feedback and Typical Case Studies
1. Positive Feedback from Diverse Industries
The SOLY GT Hydraulic Bolt Tensioner has earned praise from a variety of industries, including manufacturing, construction, heavy machinery, and energy. Users consistently highlight its accuracy, durability, and ease of use. One key aspect that many operators appreciate is the tool’s ability to consistently provide accurate torque levels, ensuring that bolts are tightened to the required specifications every time. This reliability minimizes the risk of structural failure or equipment malfunctions, ensuring safety and long-term operational stability.
Feedback from Industrial Engineers: One of the most common feedback points from engineers is the SOLY GT’s ability to function in tough, high-stress environments. Engineers working in power plants and industrial facilities have found it to be indispensable for tasks such as turbine maintenance and heavy equipment assembly. Its precision and ability to deliver consistent, repeatable results ensure that their bolting operations are always done to the highest standards.
Customer Case Study: In a large-scale construction project for a power plant, the SOLY GT Hydraulic Bolt Tensioner was employed to tighten critical fasteners during the assembly of steam turbines. The engineers reported significant improvements in the efficiency of the bolting process, with the hydraulic tensioner allowing them to achieve accurate bolt tensioning faster than manual or other automated methods. This resulted in quicker project completion times and minimized the risk of defects in the machinery once it was operational.
Feedback from Heavy Equipment Operators: Operators in the mining and heavy machinery sectors have praised the SOLY GT Hydraulic Bolt Tensioner for its ruggedness and ability to withstand harsh conditions. These operators require tools that can endure extreme environments, and the SOLY GT has been tested in locations with high temperatures, dirt, and vibration without showing signs of failure. This durability has made it a trusted tool in these challenging settings.
2. Real-World Case Study: Offshore Oil Rig Operations
One typical case that demonstrates the SOLY GT Hydraulic Bolt Tensioner’s versatility involves its use on offshore oil rigs. In this challenging environment, bolt tensioning is critical for ensuring that connections between pipes, pressure vessels, and safety equipment remain secure in rough seas. The SOLY GT was used for maintenance on various subsea components, where other tools failed to meet the required pressure standards.
Outcome: The SOLY GT Hydraulic Bolt Tensioner enabled the offshore team to quickly and safely tension bolts, preventing potential leaks and ensuring the integrity of the pressure systems. By using the tensioner, the team was able to reduce downtime and prevent costly failures, making it a key piece of equipment in offshore oil and gas maintenance operations.
